Sarah Ziegler, LPC, M.S. NCC, PEL-SC

Introduction

Sarah completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Iowa, and is a graduate of the Masters in Counseling program at National Louis University. In addition to working as a clinical therapist, Sarah is also a licensed school counselor (PEL-SC, K-21). Before joining Progressive Psychological Healthcare, Sarah worked as a school counseling intern at Buffalo Grove High School, supporting adolescents and their families by providing academic, college/career, and social-emotional counseling. During this time, Sarah also assisted students and families through the 504/IEP process by attending reevaluation meetings, sharing observations of students and performance data, as well as providing individual counseling to students. Sarah is a certified group facilitator for Rainbows for All Children and utilized much of this curriculum to develop and co-facilitate a first-generation college student group at Buffalo Grove High School. Sarah also is a Certified Trauma Professional (CTP) and is working towards her certification in EMDR. 

Therapy Approach

Sarah works with clients in a collaborative and direct manner to bring subconscious thoughts and actions to the conscious mind in order to create lasting habits, attitudinal and behavior modification. She believes all people are capable of change and works with each client to develop individualized, goal-oriented treatment plans. While every individual brings their own unique stories and belief systems to counseling, Sarah utilizes an integrative theoretical approach, adjusting modalities and techniques accordingly to support clients in achieving their personal counseling goals.

Specializations: Life transitions, anxiety, depression, grief, self-esteem, chronic illness, medical trauma, navigating healthcare with chronic illness, biologic medication, family and relationship trauma, and child/adolescent school performance and avoidance.
