Her background includes teaching English to Russian students, working with adolescents struggling with anxiety and/or OCD to support them through exposures, providing case management to adults with substance use disorders, being an advocate and support for students as a student assistance program counselor, and ensuring patient safety.
Addison is passionate about walking alongside clients in their journey to overcome challenges by way of their strengths and developing tools to supplement those strengths or areas where clients feel less confident.
Therapy Approach
Addison views individuals as shaped by the sum of their experiences and recognizes that both counselor and client alike bring diverse identities, experiences, and worldviews to the counseling space, all of which are influenced by their social and environmental contexts. She believes individuals are the experts of their own experiences and that collaboration is essential to achieving client goals. Addison understands her role as supporting clients’ capacity for insight, choice, and growth by emphasizing strengths and resilience while holding space for curiosity. She approaches counseling as an evolving process, remaining open to feedback and adapting her approach to best support the unique person sitting in front of her based on their goals, strengths, and cultural context.
Theoretical Lens
Addison is interested in psychodynamic and existential conceptually and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical and Behavior Therapy (DBT), and play therapy practically.
