Jessica Scott-Cappis, BS

Introduction:
I am a graduate student at Northwestern University in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Montana
State University, where I developed a strong foundation in understanding human behavior and mental health. In addition to my academic training, I worked at a domestic abuse hotline, where I supported individuals experiencing intimate partner violence by providing crisis intervention, resources, and a compassionate presence. I am a current member of the American Counseling Association which allows me to stay engaged with the latest research and best practices in the
field.

Therapeutic Approach:
I work with individuals of all age ranges presenting with concerns of anxiety, depression, grief
and difficulty through life’s transitions. I approach therapy with curiosity, empathy, and respect
for each client’s unique story. My work is grounded in a psychodynamic framework, with the
integration of a person-centered approach, and cognitive behavioral theory. I believe that
therapy provides an opportunity for individuals to gain insight into their internal and external
experiences, recognize their inherent strengths, and foster meaningful growth.
In our work together, we can explore not only the challenges you’re facing now, but also the
deeper patterns and experiences that may be shaping them. I provide a safe space to bring
these patterns into awareness, which can open the door to new ways of understanding yourself
and creating change. Together we can focus on your individual needs and goals, helping to
build the tools and confidence to navigate life’s challenges.
