Jodi Sohl, BS

Having completed all of the educational requirements, Jodi begins her graduate student internship at Progressive Psychological Healthcare after four decades in education. Jodi’s undergraduate and graduate studies in special education were completed at the Ohio State University and Johns Hopkins University while her experiences include working with both special education and typically developing students from preschool through high school. Her experiences also span the gamete of professional positions and environments having been a classroom teacher, mentor, educational consultant, professional development coordinator and instructor, supervisor, director, and principal in public and private schools in the United States, Europe, and through the Department of Defense Dependent School (DODDS) systems.

Through association with the military community, Jodi had the opportunity to direct many Family Services organizations where she helped counsel children, individuals, couples, and families through many life-cycle challenges, educational issues, relocation (PCS) and separation transitions, grief and loss processes, marital adjustments, problem solving, and coping skills. These experiences have laid a strong foundation of working with children, adolescents, individuals, couples, and families in a growth-minded, non-judgmental, multicultural, and collaborative relationship.

With this internship, in addition to the already completed coursework, Jodi will receive a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) from Capella University. This three-year program is fully accredited though COAMFTE, the professional organization which licenses all MFTs nationwide. Jodi’s professional approach is strength-based, positive, respectful, and nurturing while being inquisitive, direct, and goal-oriented while building a strong therapeutic relationship to collaboratively and creatively help the client grow socially, environmentally, and within every systemic relationship. Jodi uses the most current, best-practice theories and techniques to match the client’s needs.
