Larissa Didriksen, LCSW

Educational Background:

Ms. Larissa Didriksen, a graduate of New Trier High School, completed her undergraduate studies in Applied Psychology at The University of Illinois at Chicago, and received a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Jane Addams College of Social Work at The University of Illinois at Chicago.  With a passion for theological study, self awareness and spiritual direction, Ms. Didriksen provides a holistic approach to therapy aiming to improve quality of life for people of all ages and circumstances.

Clinical Experience:

With over 20 years of experience, Ms. Didriksen has built safe, professional and trusting relationships, and provided therapeutic services to over a thousand clients, ranging in age from birth to 85 years.   Ms. Didriksen has worked in a variety of professional settings, including partial hospitalization programs, group homes, therapeutic and public schools, as well as in private practice. Ms. Didriksen’s long-serving career as a School Social Worker has equipped her with a firm understanding of child and adolescent behavior, and how behavior dynamically affects and is affected by family, social, educational and community experiences.  Her gained knowledge and insights about the education system, special education service provision, and community support networks are an asset to clients seeking access to and improved utilization of the resources available to them and their families.

While Ms. Didriksen’s area of specialty is working with children, she also provides clinical services to young and mature adults.  Ms. Didriksen has treated individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma reactions, phobias, selective mutism, behavioral problems, autism, mood disorders, obsessive compulsive disorders, and schizophrenia.

Therapeutic Approach:

Ms. Didriksen’s integrated client-centered therapy approach is directly related to and derived from the individualized needs of each client.  Seeing how we are all unique individuals, at different stages of development and with certain desires, Ms. Didriksen believes in guiding clients to create effective and obtainable treatment plans and celebrate their achievement. By meeting clients where they are, applying active listening and sincere concern for well-being, Ms. Didriksen is dedicated to supporting clients in better understanding the cause of difficulties, empowering clients to attain their goals while drawing on their strengths.
