EMDR Therapy

EMDR THERAPY

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a highly effective, evidence-based therapy designed to help individuals heal from the emotional distress and psychological symptoms caused by traumatic experiences, overwhelming life events, or persistent negative beliefs.

Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR focuses on processing and resolving memories that are “stuck” in the brain due to trauma. These unprocessed memories can continue to trigger emotional, physical, and psychological distress long after the event has passed.

During EMDR sessions, the therapist guides the client through a structured process that involves recalling distressing memories while engaging in bilateral stimulation, typically through guided eye movements, tapping, or auditory cues. This process helps the brain reprocess the memory in a way that reduces its emotional intensity and allows for healthier, more adaptive beliefs to emerge.

At Pro Psych Health, we have clinicians who specialize in EMDR therapy for:

  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

  • Anxiety and panic attacks

  • Childhood trauma and abuse

  • Depression related to past events

  • Grief and complicated loss

  • First responder and frontline worker trauma

  • Performance anxiety and low self-esteem

Many clients experience relief more quickly than with traditional therapy approaches. EMDR helps empower individuals to move forward, no longer held back by past experiences.
