Desteny Anderson, MS

Desteny Anderson is a fourth-year doctoral student in Clinical Psychology at Walden University and a Chicago native currently completing her clinical internship. She has developed a diverse clinical skill set through work with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families across a range of treatment settings. During her training, Desteny has gained experience supporting clients with concerns including eating disorders, substance use and recovery, grief and loss, and high conflict of family dynamics, including custody related stress.

Her clinical work also includes providing individual, group, couples, and family therapy. Desteny has experience in play therapy with children and offers parent coaching to support healthy family functioning and child development.

Therapeutic Approach:
Desteny’s therapeutic style is integrative, collaborative, and client centered. She draws from evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Gestalt therapy, and mindfulness-based practices. She also incorporates holistic and reality-based perspectives to support clients in creating meaningful and sustainable change. Desteny is committed to fostering a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel empowered to explore their experiences, build resilience, and work toward personal goals.
