Warren J. Heard, LCPC, CADC

Background

Warren J. Heard earned his Master of Science in Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) in Illinois. He is currently completing his Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision at National Louis University, where his research focuses on multicultural counseling, counselor education, and the factors that influence effective therapist training. He also serves as an adjunct instructor in graduate counseling programs, helping prepare the next generation of mental health professionals.

Throughout his career, Warren has worked extensively in both community mental health and
private practice, providing psychotherapy to adults and couples experiencing a wide range of
emotional, relational, and behavioral concerns. In addition to his clinical work, he has spent more than a decade in behavioral health leadership, supervising clinicians, developing outpatient mental health programs, and supporting the delivery of high-quality behavioral healthcare. This combination of direct clinical experience and leadership has provided him with a broad understanding of the challenges individuals face while allowing him to remain deeply committed to the therapeutic process.

Warren has extensive experience treating anxiety disorders, chronic stress, trauma, obsessive-
compulsive disorder (OCD), depression, relationship difficulties, and life transitions. He has
received training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and integrates
evidence-based interventions to help clients move beyond feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or
trapped in repetitive patterns of thinking. He is particularly passionate about working with
thoughtful, high-achieving adults who struggle with overthinking, perfectionism, self-doubt, and
the pressures of balancing work, relationships, and family life.

Warren believes that meaningful change occurs within a strong therapeutic relationship built on
trust, authenticity, and collaboration. He strives to create a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental
environment where clients feel genuinely understood while also being challenged to examine
unhelpful patterns, build resilience, and move toward the life they want to create.

Therapeutic Approach

Warren takes an integrative, evidence-based approach to therapy that is tailored to each client’s
unique needs, values, and goals. Rather than adhering to a single theoretical model, he draws
from multiple evidence-based approaches to help clients develop greater self-awareness,
psychological flexibility, and the ability to respond intentionally rather than react automatically.
His work emphasizes helping clients better understand themselves, differentiate from unhelpful
patterns and expectations, and move toward a life that is more consistent with their values.
Warren believes that meaningful change occurs through both insight and action. He works
collaboratively with clients to explore the thoughts, emotions, relationships, and life experiences
that shape their current struggles while developing practical skills that promote lasting growth.

Whether clients are navigating anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, or major life transitions,
his goal is to create a therapeutic relationship that balances acceptance with meaningful change,
allowing clients to build resilience while becoming more authentic and grounded in who they
want to be.
